Day 1

Hair Science, Professional Diagnosis + Keratin Treatment

Day 1 gives you the foundation behind every decision you will make during the course and later with your own clients.

You do not begin by memorizing a bottle protocol. You begin by learning what the hair is made of, what gives it strength and shape, how to read its present condition and why 2 clients with a similar curl may require completely different services.

Why hair science comes first

Without understanding the structure and bonds inside the hair, it is impossible to fully understand what is happening during smoothing, straightening, nourishing or recovery work. You may be able to repeat a sequence, but you cannot confidently explain why the hair responded well, why a result failed or why the same protocol could be unsafe for another client.

This foundation helps you distinguish a temporary change from a permanent chemical change, understand where damage is located and make professional choices instead of guessing.

Why Queen’s Hair Academy is different.

We prepare professionals who understand the work—not students who only memorize steps.

Professional understanding—not simply a certificate.

Hair straightening is serious work. We teach you how to analyse the hair, select the treatment, formula, temperature and technique, and understand why every decision matters.

5 days to turn information into real skill.

You learn, practise on live hair, receive individual corrections and return to the theory until it becomes clear. A shorter course can introduce the subject; 5 days give you time to build a stronger professional foundation.

Private training, built around your progress.

The program is taught individually, with the educator focused on your questions and technique. You may complete all 5 days consecutively or divide them between different weeks—for example, 2 days during 1 week and 3 days the following week.

Direct technical knowledge from Brazil.

Queen’s Hair Academy works directly with professional manufacturers and factories in Brazil. We combine technical knowledge of the formulas with real salon experience, so you learn what works, what does not and how to select the right product for the hair.

A completed service and a true same-day result.

Every live-model procedure is washed out and fully finished at the academy. You evaluate the result after post-treatment care and the final blow-dry—we do not teach students to send a client home with the treatment in their hair for 3 days.

We do not simply issue certificates. We build serious professionals.

At Queen’s Hair Academy, we treat Keratin Treatment and professional hair-straightening services as serious work. Hair is deeply personal to every client, and every procedure requires knowledge, responsibility and respect.

We do not train students to memorize 1 bottle protocol or repeat steps without understanding them. We teach the complete structure behind every service: how to analyse the hair, how to select the treatment, formula, temperature and technique, and how each decision can affect the final result.

For us, training is not a quick transaction followed by a certificate. Our responsibility is to make sure you genuinely understand what you are doing, why you are doing it and how to work with different hair structures safely and professionally.

Our approach is serious because the work itself is complex. Before you complete the program, we make sure the information is clear, the practical steps are understood and you can connect diagnosis, product selection, technique and result.

We are building a higher standard of hair education in Toronto and across Ontario. We want our graduates to become some of the strongest professionals in the industry—specialists known for strong knowledge, thoughtful decisions and consistent results.

You leave Queen’s Hair Academy with more than a certificate—you leave understanding the professional work behind it.

Why 5 days make a real difference.

A 1- or 2-day class can introduce you to part of the information. A 5-day program gives that information time to become clear, practical and usable.

On Day 1, many concepts may be completely new. When you begin working on live models, the theory starts to connect with what you see. You diagnose the hair, select a formula, choose the temperature, practise the technique, wash out the treatment and evaluate the true result.

New questions appear during practice. You receive individual corrections, return to the theory and apply the same professional principles again on a different hair structure. That is how the knowledge begins to stay with you.

Learn. Observe. Practise. Receive corrections. Return to the theory. Practise again.

You do not hear the information once and immediately leave to work alone. Across 5 days, you have time to:

  • Understand the theory behind all 5 professional systems
  • Connect the theory with supervised live-model practice
  • See how decisions change for different hair structures and conditions
  • Recognize mistakes and correct them immediately with your educator
  • Repeat diagnosis, formula selection, temperature selection and technique
  • Ask questions that appear only after practical work begins
  • Build a much stronger foundation before working independently

After 5 days, you are not simply repeating a sequence. You understand how to think through the service and adapt your work to the hair in front of you. This is better for your confidence—and for every client who trusts you with their hair.

Private training, scheduled around you.

The complete 5-day program is delivered individually. The educator’s attention is focused on your understanding, your technique, your questions and your progress.

You are not sharing your practical time with a large group. Every step can be explained in detail, every technical mistake can be corrected immediately and additional time can be spent on the subjects you find most challenging.

The program can be completed in 5 consecutive days, but it does not have to be.

We can organize the training around your availability. For example, you may complete 2 days during 1 week and the remaining 3 days the following week.

Regardless of how the dates are arranged, you receive the complete 5-day curriculum, all theoretical modules and practical training on 4 live models. The program is not shortened when the schedule is divided.

Education built on direct knowledge from Brazil.

Queen’s Hair Academy works directly with professional hair-treatment manufacturers and factories in Brazil.

This gives us access to accurate technical information about professional formulas, including their composition, purpose, strength, limitations, heat requirements and intended protocols.

Our education is not built only on marketing descriptions or generic instructions from the front of a bottle.

We understand how different formulas are designed to perform, what they can realistically achieve, which hair structures they are intended for and which techniques support their correct performance.

We combine this direct manufacturer knowledge with extensive salon experience. We see how formulas behave on real clients with different textures, densities, porosity levels, damage and chemical histories.

This allows us to teach you how to:

  • Understand the functional purpose of different formulas
  • Compare products by performance, not only by name
  • Recognize differences in straightening strength, nourishment and heat requirements
  • Identify techniques that work for a specific formula and hair structure
  • Recognize techniques that will not produce the intended result
  • Adjust a manufacturer protocol when the hair requires a more individualized approach
  • Evaluate product information critically
  • Select the product for the client—not the client for the product

We teach both the technical information behind the formula and the practical reality of using it in the salon.

The client leaves with a completed result.

We teach the complete procedure—not an unfinished service.

At Queen’s Hair Academy, we do not teach students to apply a professional treatment and send the client home with the product in their hair for 3 days.

We do not consider it the client’s responsibility to complete a professional salon procedure at home.

The specialist is responsible for completing every stage of the service:

  • Preparing and washing the hair
  • Performing a complete diagnosis
  • Selecting the correct treatment
  • Building the individual protocol
  • Applying the product correctly
  • Controlling temperature and technique
  • Washing out the treatment at the appropriate stage
  • Applying the necessary post-treatment care
  • Blow-drying and finishing the hair
  • Evaluating the true final result
  • Providing professional aftercare recommendations

During training, every live model goes through the complete process.

This is important because freshly flat-ironed hair may look smooth and shiny before the treatment has been washed out. The true quality of the work becomes visible after the washout, post-treatment care and final blow-dry.

We want our students to see and understand the result they actually created.

Every client should leave the salon with clean, finished hair, a visible final result and a completed professional service.

Real students. Real practice. Real results.

The photographs on this page show real Queen’s Hair Academy students during their training.

Across the program, you work with 4 live models and complete each service from diagnosis and product selection through washout, final blow-dry and result evaluation—all under individual supervision.

Questions often appear once you begin meeting your own clients and working with new hair structures. You can contact Queen’s Hair Academy when you need guidance with hair diagnosis, treatment selection, protocol planning or a challenging client case.

The goal is for you to continue developing with access to professional guidance—not to feel that you are completely on your own after receiving your certificate.

Will you be ready to work independently?

The 5-day program is designed to prepare you to begin working independently.

You will not leave knowing only one memorized sequence. You will understand how to analyse the hair, compare treatment options, select a formula, choose temperature, customize the technique and explain your decisions.

4 live models provide repeated supervised practice before you begin working with your own clients.

As with every hands-on profession, confidence continues to grow through experience. The difference is that you will begin with a structured foundation, a professional workbook, practical experience and 2 months of post-training support.

A 2-day training option is also available.

We also offer a condensed 2-day training option for students who require a shorter format.

The 2-day program introduces essential theory and practical techniques. However, it cannot provide the same depth, repetition, number of live-model experiences or time for information to settle as the complete 5-day program.

If you have the opportunity to choose the 5-day training, we recommend it—especially if you are new to professional hair treatments, want a deeper foundation or plan to begin working independently.

The additional time is an investment in your knowledge, your confidence and the experience of every future client who sits in your chair.
