Assess texture, condition, chemical history, and the client’s goals to select a suitable formula.
Working with dry and damaged hair
Understand when additional preparation is needed, how to prepare the hair, and when to postpone the service.
Working with resistant, low-porosity “glassy” hair
Recognize its characteristics and adjust your preparation, product selection, and technique when your usual approach doesn’t deliver the desired result.
Working with depleted and compromised hair
Assess the hair’s limitations and choose appropriate preparation and treatment options without overloading fragile strands.
Selecting the right temperature
Perform a strand test, check your flat iron’s actual temperature, and read the hair’s response to recognize when to lower the heat, adjust your technique, or stop.
